Hibernation For The Win!
Winter and summer have changed places in my life if we were to ask my great-great grandfather. For him it was all about summer in order to make it through the cold winter - for me it's the other way around. I gather my resources in the wintertime, when all my boards are in hibernation and I focus at work, looking at spots and grow even so hungry for what's in the horizon... Spring!
In 2009, I visited 12 countries and I hope 2010 can offer the same amount of energy. But, for that to happen you need a natural break in the madness, a season, ..to work and strive .. get some perspecitve .. get hungry again so that I can attack the summer the way we tend to do from the north: grab it with both hands and eat it whole!
Have a RAD 2010 everybody!
Waterskiing behind ship
"It was a dream come true!!!" For years we have talked about what it would feel like to waterski behind a ship. I finally got the opportunity when the Norwegian Yellow Pages needed a stuntman when they were to shoot a new advertisement! - says Øystein Barhaughøgda. The ship is Stenaline's ferry between Norway and Denmark. The official advertisement will come later this year.
First Wakeski Tournament
The first wakeski tournament in history was held at Orlando Watersports Complex on September 5th 2009. The Norwegian pioners of the sport (StereoSkis) took part in hosting the event, and our Team member Bjørn Jokerud got an impressive 2'nd place in the tournament! Yet another dream comes true as Stereo Skis have now successfully established a new sport.
London Night Jump 2009
Another fantastic Night Jump event took place in London. This year saw over 4,000 spectators visit the site along with a live webcast and SGTV recording the event for SKY Sports.
Surf City
A cool twist of a watersport event took place in Tønsberg, Norway 7.-8'th of August pioneered by the watersport enthusiast Andre Natland. We congratulate Andre on a spectacular event and a great contribution to our sport.
Torbjørn 2'nd @ Ekstremsport Veko
Team member Torbjørn proudly won the 2'nd spot at the most prestigious longboard tournament in Norway.
Oysteins Summer Rail Challenge 2'nd stop at Aker Brygge in Oslo, Norway 12-13'th of June.
June wins again
Team Member June Fladborg (DEN) put in a great performance at the 50th US Masters. The pressure was on with a 160 to take the lead, she sucked up the pressure and spat it out with a massive 172 foot jump (52.4 m). A great start to the season, June now has two victories this year and feels more than ready for the LA Night Jam next on the calendar. Freddy Krueger won the mens jump with a 231 (70.4 m).
Oysteins Summer Rail Challenge 2009 had it first stop in Åre, Sweden. StereoSkis have put together a movie of the event. Now we're all just looking forward to the next stop at Aker Brygge in Oslo, Norway - 12-13'th of June.
Springbreak!
The guys at Nordsjø Cablepark in Norway just couldn't wait for the ice any longer. This is how they solve the problem in Norway. Good on ya guys!
Ridersblog - Torbjørn
Yeah! Ravenhill 2.0, the last race of the season for the racers up north with low cashflow. We went to Gøteborg by buss on friday evening, arrived at our friends house, not far from the hill, the weather was threatning, but with baggs of folköl and good friends from Sweden this was not a issue! not yeat, anyhow!
Saturday morning, Gray-windy-wet! So we manifested a big brekfast to get the spirit up. Since racing longboard in the freezing rain is not particulary fun! We arrive at the event, and started the freerides.
The road was coverd in wet leafes and the rain had turned into a dense mist - which made everything wet, it didn't help that all the tare around the small rocks from the asfalt had been rubbed of by cars and weather over time. ...so when you put slick uruthane wheels on that you don't get all the friction you want, like in and out a corner! I'm sure you can imagine that there was alot of carnage and chaos.
We used the whole day to get to know the hill, then we went home to have a couple of beers in the evening, trying to forget......... .......the wheater! :P Sunday, race day! Woke up, ripped the curtains open to find an absolute spotless sky! Perfect! So no time for brekfast!
We arrive at the hill, and smiling people were brooming the wet leafs of the road and freerides could begin!
Now we`re talking! It was a completly new hill! All the practice runs from yesterday had to be forgotten as a dry road equals alot more speed and a lot less drifting in the corners! ...and lets not forget the adrenalin of racing in a hill where there was rarely any type of protection along the sides!
We started off in 4 man heats and while the music was pumping towards the skaters who bombed throug the spectators area in highspeed pursuits!
I came first in all of my heats (your allowed a bit of luck racing downhill skateboards ;) so it was fun to meet the racers i had'nt met so far in the race, in the final!
The Final
I came out number three in the start (shait) after Sanne and Klaes! We where slipstreaming down the SJIKANE and through the spectators! So in the 2'nd last corner Klaes came to high and had to see a long-haird Norwegian mountainmonkey pass him on the inside! It ended with Sanne (SWE) as the winner, I came second and Klaes (SWE) came in third.
All in all it was alot of fun! the Swedes are fast, but now they must look out for speed junkies from Norway! Littlebrother is catching up!
Big thanx to JFOX for taking these nice photos, and to Dennis; we miss you alot up here buddy, keep on charging in Aussieland!!

Yet another spectacular Oysteins Water took place in Grimstad last weekend. Kiteboarders, Windsurfers, Wakeboarders and Waterskiers all got together as one big happy family jammin' and switching diciplines between them all day long - finishing off with an Oysteins Summer Rail Challenge Night Jam in the middle of the city before the afterparty.
Egil Furre impressed both the crowd and the jury on the rail and won the tournament, allthough he tackled the pavement head first and was taken to the hospital in his last and final run. Luckily he got away with a few stitches in his arm and a twisted knee. Check out the crash in the local newspaper here
Oysteins Summer Rail Challenge
Oysteins Summer Rail Challenge`08 at Aker Brygge previous weekend was a huge success!
Besides two broken ribs and a twisted ancle, all the competitors could face the following week with no further injuries.
30 brave rivals railed their way through asphalt and water, before 16 of them made it to the two semi-finals. In the final the 8 competitors had 5 runs to show off their best.
Team member June Fladborg soared to victory in jump over World Champion Angelika Andriopoulou GRE and Berdnikova which saw all three medalists over 170 ft (52m). A jump of 53.3 meters gives her the privilege to claim the Masters Women Jump title!
